Otter Notetaker is an AI meeting notetaker that automatically joins your Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams meetings to record, transcribe, and capture your meetings in real time. Connect your calendar to Otter, sync your scheduled meetings, and let Notetaker automatically join and take notes. With Otter Notetaker, you can access AI-powered features including Otter Chat Q&A, Otter AI Chat with Voice, Automated Live Summary, Automated Slide Capture, and Meeting Summary.

Once you connect your calendar (Google or Microsoft), your meetings will sync to Otter. You can set Notetaker to automatically join any events that contain a Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams meeting link. 

\nTip: Can't attend a meeting? You can send Notetaker to join a meeting even if you're unable to. Catch up on anything you missed during the meeting or after in the Otter meeting notes. Depending on your plan, Notetaker can join multiple meetings simultaneously.

Set up Notetaker

To have Notetaker automatically join your meetings, connect your Google or Microsoft calendar to Otter. Once connected, your calendar events will sync to your Otter homepage.

    Go to Integrations and click Connect for your Microsoft Outlook or Google account.

Manage Notetaker settings

Manage all of your Notetaker settings in Account Settings → Meetings.

Notetaker display name

\n

Notetaker will join your Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams meetings as a participant. The display name will appear using your profile's first name combined with 'Notetaker (Otter.ai)'.

FAQs

Can Notetaker join a meeting anonymously or without other participants seeing it?

No. Notetaker cannot join a meeting anonymously or without appearing to other participants.

\n

Notetaker joins Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams meetings as a guest participant and will be visible in the meeting. Always obtain any required consent and follow applicable recording laws and the Otter Terms of Service.

Will Notetaker stay in a meeting if there is no audio or everyone is silent?

No. Notetaker will automatically leave a meeting after detecting 12 continuous minutes of silence.

\n

If the meeting continues beyond its scheduled end time, Notetaker will leave after 5 continuous minutes of silence.

Do I need to allow guest participants for Notetaker to join my meetings?

\n

Yes. Your meeting and organization settings must allow guest participants for Notetaker to join.

\n

Notetaker joins meetings as a guest participant and cannot sign in to an account belonging to your organization to bypass guest restrictions.

If Notetaker is unable to join, check with your IT administrator to confirm that your organization’s meeting platform settings and policies allow guest participants.

\n

Tip: If your organization manages meeting access centrally, your IT administrator may need to update the applicable Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams settings.

Does Otter support botless recording?

Yes. You can use the Otter Desktop app for botless recording without Notetaker joining your meeting as a separate participant.
