Otter Notetaker Chat Q&A for Zoom Overview

Otter Chat enables teams to focus on the most important information during a meeting to transform your conversations into hubs of productivity, clarity, and collaboration. Participants in a Zoom meeting can view all Otter Chat questions and responses directly in the Zoom chat. Additionally, Otter Chat will automatically send out a summary at the end of the meeting to streamline the post-meeting process. Add instant value to your meetings by using Notetaker Chat Q&A.

Note: Notetaker Chat Q&A is currently only available for Zoom meetings and requires your Notetaker to join the online meeting. Notetaker Chat Q&A for Google Meet and Microsoft Team meetings is not yet available. 

Manage your Notetaker Chat Q&A settings

Review your Notetaker Chat Q&A settings in Account Settings > Meetings. Under the Notetaker chat messages section, you will need the following settings toggled as On for Otter Chat Q&A to work: 

  • Send live transcript and summary (a link will be sent out with the Takeaways and action items before the meeting ends)
  • Send Otter Chat Q&A

 

Tip: We recommend turning on Auto-join all meetings as well to ensure you never miss a conversation and automatically get the takeaways and action items for the meeting. 

Send Otter Chat Q&As during the meeting

During a meeting, open the Otter Chat tab in your live Otter conversation. You can begin to ask your questions to Otter. Both the question and answer will be sent directly to the Zoom chat meeting for all participants and attendees to view. A link to the Otter conversation will be provided in each chat message. 

Note: Only questions submitted to Otter Chat will show in Zoom’s chat. Mentioning (@) or conversing with other participants in the Otter conversation will not show in Zoom’s chat. Only the Notetaker Chat Q&As will show in the Zoom chat.

Automatic meeting summary generated by Otter Chat

Note: The automatically generated summary feature works only for scheduled calendar events that are more than 25 minutes long. For ad-hoc meetings, you can continue to use Otter Chat and send Q&As to the Zoom chat. 

Right before the scheduled meeting ends, Otter Chat will generate a summary message of Takeaways and action items, and send that to the Zoom chat for all participants to view.

You’ll see it automatically generated in both the Otter Chat tab and Zoom’s chat window.
