What is the Otter integration for Slack?

With the Otter app, you can:
- Receive Otter notifications. Get notified when you’re mentioned or assigned an action item in an Otter conversation.
- See rich previews of Otter conversations. When Otter links are posted in Slack, they will be instantly enriched with meeting information and the automatic summary.
- Share meeting summaries in Slack channels. Send summaries to Slack channels after the meeting to keep everyone on the same page.

How do I install the Otter integration for Slack?
- Go to https://otter.ai/setting/connected_apps.
- Next to Slack, click on “Add”.
- Connect your Otter account with your Slack account.
- If you are the first person in your Slack workspace to connect Otter, you’ll see one more step to add the Otter app to your Slack workspace. Click on “Add to Slack”.
- Follow the steps to install the Otter app to your Slack workspace, and you’re done!
Features of the Otter Slack Integration

See rich previews of Otter conversation with link unfurls
- When you paste a link to an Otter conversation in a Slack channel, the Otter Slack app will unfurl that link to show more information, including meeting information such as the title and duration, and the automatic summary for that conversation.
Note: In order for the link to unfurl, you must have access to the conversation.

Get notifications in Slack
If you connect your Slack account to Otter, you will receive Otter notifications in Slack, for these following activities:

When someone requests access to a conversation. You can grant access directly in Slack with collaborator or viewer permissions.

When you are assigned an action item in Otter.

When you’re mentioned in a comment in Otter.

Post to Slack

After connecting Slack to your Otter account, you will see a new “Post to Slack” button in the top right corner of every conversation you own.

Here, you can post the meeting summary to a specific Slack channel.

To post to private Slack channels, please first add the Otter app to that channel.

If this Otter conversation is part of a recurring meeting, you will also see an option to set up all future instances to be posted to Slack.

Connect recurring meetings to Slack channels
Steps-
- Go to https://otter.ai/setting/connected_apps.

Add your Slack account, if you haven’t already.

Connect your calendar.

Below the Slack section, schedule automatic posts to Slack.

For any recurring meeting, choose which Slack channel(s) you want to post the pre-meeting notification and after-meeting summary.
