Unverified Notetaker
On February 14th, 2024, Microsoft published a change that will now label guest users as unverified.
- No label: All participants who are part of the organizer’s organization.
- External: All participants who are external to the organizer’s organization but have a trusted relationship with the organizer or their organization.
- Unverified: All other participants will be seen with this label. This will include Microsoft Entra ID users who belong to organizations that do not have explicit external access set up with the organizer’s organization, Microsoft Account (personal) users, users who are not using any Microsoft ID while joining meetings, and others.
Otter Notetaker is only able to join Microsoft Team meetings as a guest participant without a Microsoft ID and cannot sign in to a Microsoft account, which causes Notetaker to fall into the category of unverified.
“Limited call features” banner in Microsoft Teams
You may see a Limited call features banner in Microsoft Teams when Otter Notetaker joins a meeting. This is a Microsoft Teams display issue and does not mean that your meeting or Otter Notetaker features are limited. You can safely ignore the banner. Microsoft Teams and Otter Notetaker will continue to work normally.
If your organization wants to hide the banner, contact your Microsoft Teams administrator. Your admin can update your organization’s Microsoft Teams configuration to prevent the banner from appearing for Otter Notetaker. Setting -HideBannerForAllowedAcsUsers to $true hides the Limited call features banner for allowed ACS users in Microsoft Teams meetings and calls.
