Product feedback settings
Manage your feedback and training permissions in Account Settings > Meetings. You have the option to allow Otter and its third-party service provider(s) permission to access your conversations for training and product improvement, including through human review. See our Privacy Policy for more details, and our Privacy & Security page to learn how we keep your information private and secure. Otter is committed to the importance of security, trust, and transparency.
- Navigate to Account Settings > Meetings.
- Scroll down to Feedback and Training.

Next to Help improve Otter, set your preference in the drop-down.
Allow sharing
Allow sharing will allow Otter and its third-party service provider(s) permission to access all of your conversations in your account for training and product improvement, including human review. If your setting is set to anything other than Allow sharing, when submitting feedback, you’ll see the option to checkmark the “Allow Otter…” setting on the pop-up. This will take effect immediately and update your account settings in Account Settings > Meetings > Feedback and Training > Help improve Otter.
Don’t allow sharing
If your setting is set to Don’t allow sharing, when submitting feedback, Otter will not access your conversation for training and product improvement.
Collaborators providing feedback on shared conversations
For shared conversations,
- Collaborators have the option to provide feedback on a conversation.
- Viewers are not able to provide feedback on a conversation.
If your account-level settings have not been set (shows Select an option), collaborators will be able to opt to allow Otter access to that conversation for training and product improvement on the pop-up. Once you set your account-level setting, they will no longer see that option.
Rate your conversation transcripts
- Navigate to the conversation you want to submit feedback on.
- Click on the Transcript tab.

Scroll to the bottom of the transcript. Select your star rating.
- Provide additional written feedback. Click Submit feedback.
Otter Chat feedback
Provide feedback on the answers provided by Otter AI Chat. Hover any answer to select Helpful or Not helpful. Add more details to submit your feedback. Your feedback is valuable and will help us continue to improve Otter AI Chat outputs.
Meeting title feedback
For meetings that are recorded ad hoc and not associated with a calendar event or an imported file, Otter will automatically generate a title for your conversations. Provide feedback to help improve the automatically generated titles for conversations. Click the 3-dot menu next to the title and select the feedback.
Add your feedback and click Submit feedback.
Overviews feedback
Otter automatically generates an overview of your conversations for easy review. Click the 3-dot menu next to Overview and select the feedback.
Add your feedback and click Submit feedback.
Action items feedback
Hover any Action Items to select Helpful or Not helpful for that item. You can submit feedback through the Homepage Action Items tab or on the Summary tab of a conversation.
Add your feedback and click Submit feedback.
Outline feedback
Review the automatically generated outline for your conversations. Click the 3-dot menu to submit feedback for the entire section or hover over individual outlined items to submit feedback.
Add your feedback and click Submit feedback.
Insights feedback
Otter can generate key points and insights based on the template you set for the conversation. Click the 3-dot menu and select the feedback.
Add your feedback and click Submit feedback.
FAQs
What happens to past conversations I’ve previously given access to if I update to "Don’t allow sharing"?
- Access to all past conversations will be removed for training.
- Future conversations will not be used for training.
- Update your settings anytime in Account Settings > Meetings > Feedback and Training.
Does “Allow sharing” give access to all my conversations, regardless of whether I submitted feedback for a conversation?
- Yes.
- Selecting Allow sharing will provide Otter access to all conversations in your account for training and product improvement.
- You can manage and update that setting anytime in Account Settings > Meetings > Feedback and Training.

I don’t see the option to update the permission setting on the feedback pop-up. Where can I find it?
- If you previously checked the option to allow permissions to access your conversations for training, it will no longer show on the pop-up.
- Checking the allow permissions will update your feedback and training session for the account to “Allow sharing”. You can manage and update that setting anytime in Account Settings > Meetings > Feedback and Training.
Does undoing or removing my feedback selection change the account-level setting?
- If you have previously submitted feedback, undoing or removing your feedback will not change the account-level setting if it was already set.
- Manage and update that setting anytime in Account Settings > Meetings > Feedback and Training if you need to change your account level settings.
Can I provide or revoke access permission for just one conversation?
- No.
- Setting the option in Account Settings > Meetings > Feedback and Training will affect all of your conversations.
If a conversation has collaborators, are they able to submit feedback on conversations I share with them?
- Yes.
- Collaborators can submit feedback on conversations you have shared with them.

If you haven't set your account level settings, collaborators with whom you have shared the conversation can submit feedback and opt to allow Otter access to those conversations for training and product improvement.
Note: When a collaborator checks that option, it will only affect that single conversation and not affect your account-level settings. - If your account-level settings are set to Don’t allow sharing, collaborators will be able to submit feedback, but not see the option to allow Otter to access the conversation for training and product improvement.
- If your account-level settings are set to Allow sharing, collaborators will be able to submit feedback. Feedback submitted will allow Otter to access the conversation for training and product improvement.
Can I undo feedback?
- Yes.

You can click Undo feedback or deselect the Helpful or Unhelpful state for any previously submitted feedback.
Why is the option to submit feedback missing for my account?
- There may be various reasons why you may not see the submit feedback option for a conversation.
- Check to see if you are a Viewer of a shared conversation. Viewers are not able to submit feedback.
- If you are a member of a Workspace, reach out to your admin, or have them contact our Otter Support team for additional assistance.
