Sharing Otter conversations allows others to view the transcript, playback the conversation, and collaborate or interact with the conversation: edit, share, or export.
You have full control over access to your conversations. You can revoke access to a conversation anytime.

Conversation permissions settings
When you share a conversation with someone or a Channel, you can choose the permission level they have.

Collaborator:

- Edit, view, playback, and export the transcript
- Interact and ask Otter Chat questions
- Edit, add, and view Takeaways
- Share the conversation (if toggled on by the conversation owner)

Viewer:
-
- Can only view and playback conversation
- Cannot edit, add, or view Takeaways
- Export option is only available if toggled on by the transcript owner
Note: This export setting option also applies to public links as well as privately shared speeches.

When you create a link for your conversation, you can select who has access to the conversation.

Anyone in your workspace:
-
- Users in your workspace will be able to access the conversation.
- You can edit the permission to Collaborator or Viewer.
- To review the users in your workspace, navigate to Workspace > Members.

Anyone with the link:
-
- Permission is defaulted to Viewer.
- Anyone with the link can view and playback the transcript without signing in.
- Anyone with the link can also see any highlights or inline images, but not see any Takeaways, nor add any new Takeaways.
- Users who are signed in will be able to view the transcript, Takeaways, and Otter Chat messages, but not interact with the conversation.

Otter can automatically share conversations through your calendar event recordings to ensure everyone has access to the conversation and enhance collaboration. Manage your calendar recording share settings. Learn more about managing your calendar share settings.
Navigate to Account Settings > Meetings or click the settings gear icon on the Homepage Calendar to easily access your conversation-sharing settings.
Share a conversation (with a user or Channel)
- Navigate to the conversation you want to share.
- Click the Share button in the upper right corner.
- Click in the Add names, emails, or channels field. You can invite through one of these methods or a combination of them:
- Type the email of the user and click Enter/Return
- Browser through the All, People, Channels, and Direct Message tabs
- Search by the name
- Add an entire Channel
Note: Sharing to a Channel means all members in the Channel, or members added later to the Channel, will have access to conversation.
- You can manage the permissions level before sharing.
Tip: You can set different permission levels for each user and Channel. Repeat the steps above for each individual user or Channel, or update the permission level for each one after you share in the pop-up. - Optionally, you can leave a message that will show in the email the user will receive.
Note: Avoid adding external URL links in your message. - Click Share when you’re finished. Users will receive a notification and an email that a conversation was shared with them. You can manage the permission and revoke access anytime.
- Navigate to My Conversations, the Folder, or Channel where you want to bulk share conversations.
- Click the checkbox next to the conversations you want to share to select them.
- Click Share at the top menu. Add the user(s) or Channel(s) you want to share with. Optionally, adjust the permission level or add a message, and click Share to confirm.
You can create a private or public link to allow other users to view your conversation.
- Click the Restricted dropdown and select the permission level you want for your conversation.
Note: You can change this anytime and existing URLs will update with the permission.
- Click the gear icon on the right to manage additional settings for sharing and export.
- Once you have reviewed those settings and are ready, click the Copy link to generate the URL.
You can share a snippet of a specific portion within a conversation instead of the entire conversation.
- Navigate to the conversation.
- Click on the Transcript tab and find the sentence, paragraph, or section you want to create a snippet for.
Note: You cannot create a snippet from multiple sections of the conversation. The selected portion must be one highlighted text. - Highlight the text in the transcript. In the toolbar pop-up, click Share and select the Snippet icon to generate the link.
By default, only that portion of the text will show when navigating to that URL.
- The conversation will always show ‘Note’ as the title regardless of what you have titled your conversation.
- The portion will show the speaker of that portion.
- Users can playback the audio of that portion.
