Export Otter conversations to Microsoft OneDrive to save your conversations to your OneDrive account. Export your conversation as a Microsoft Word (.docx) or text (.txt) file, and choose what to include, such as the transcript, overview, action items, insights, outline, custom prompts, and metadata. This makes it easy to organize, access, and share your meeting notes in OneDrive.
OneDrive Setup
Provide admin permissions, connect your OneDrive account, and choose how Otter exports your conversations.
Step 1: Grant OneDrive Permissions for Otter (admin) Grant organization-wide permissions so workspace members can connect their Microsoft OneDrive accounts
We recommend that Microsoft Entra administrators complete this step before workspace members connect their Microsoft OneDrive accounts. Granting permissions in advance helps prevent users from encountering an Admin approval required message during the connection process, depending on your organization’s Microsoft Entra consent and application policies.
A Microsoft Entra Global Administrator or Application Administrator can grant the required permissions for the Otter Microsoft OneDrive integration for your organization.
-
Open the admin consent link below and sign in with a Microsoft Entra Global Administrator or Application Administrator account.
🔐 Grant Microsoft admin permissions for OneDrive -
Review the requested permissions, then click Accept to grant organization-wide access for the Otter Microsoft OneDrive integration.
-
Admin permissions are granted.
-
After the permissions are granted, verify them in Microsoft Entra Admin Center → Enterprise Applications → Otter OneDrive → Permissions.
Control access to the integration
After granting permissions, you can control which users can connect the integration by enabling Assignment required for the Otter OneDrive enterprise application.
Navigate to Microsoft Entra Admin Center → Enterprise applications → Otter OneDrive → Properties → toggle on Assignment required.
When Assignment required is enabled, only users or groups explicitly assigned to the application can connect their Microsoft OneDrive accounts.
Missing OAuth code page after granting permissions
After clicking Accept on the admin consent page, you may be redirected to a page displaying an OAuth or authorization error.
This is a known UI issue and does not indicate that the admin consent failed. If the required permissions appear under Microsoft Entra Admin Center → Enterprise applications → Otter OneDrive → Permissions, the integration has been successfully authorized.
No additional action is required.
Step 2: Connect to Microsoft OneDrive (all members) Instructions to link your Microsoft OneDrive account
Connect Microsoft OneDrive to your Otter account to manually export conversations as Microsoft Word (.docx) or text (.txt) files directly to your OneDrive account.
-
Go to Integrations, then click Connect next to Microsoft OneDrive.

Note: If you experience an issue connecting due to permissions, please have your admin follow the steps above to ensure permissions are provided. -

FAQs
Why do I see an “Admin approval required” message when connecting Microsoft OneDrive?
If you see an Admin approval required message, your organization requires an administrator to approve the Otter Microsoft OneDrive integration before workspace members can connect their accounts.
Contact your Microsoft Entra administrator and ask them to complete Step 1: Grant Microsoft OneDrive permissions for Otter (Admins).
Once your administrator has granted the required permissions, try connecting your Microsoft OneDrive account again.
I approved the permissions as an administrator, but I’m seeing an OAuth error page. Did the setup fail?
No. If you’re redirected to an OAuth or authorization error page after granting permissions, this is a known UI issue and doesn’t mean the setup failed.
To confirm the permissions were successfully granted, go to Microsoft Entra Admin Center → Enterprise applications → Otter OneDrive → Permissions.
If the required permissions are listed, the integration has been successfully authorized and no further action is needed.
How do I verify that Microsoft OneDrive permissions were successfully granted?
After completing the admin consent flow, sign in to the Microsoft Entra Admin Center and navigate to Enterprise applications → Otter OneDrive → Permissions.
If the required API permissions are listed and show as granted, the Otter Microsoft OneDrive integration is ready for workspace members to connect their account.
Can I export past conversations to Microsoft OneDrive?
Yes. You can manually export any Otter conversation to Microsoft OneDrive, including conversations created before connecting the integration.
Can I export conversations that were shared with me?
Yes. You can export shared conversations if you have Viewer or Collaborator access.
Why is the Export to Microsoft OneDrive option missing or unavailable?
Your workspace admin may have disabled conversation exports. Contact your workspace admin for assistance.
How do I restore a previous version of an exported conversation?
Clicking Update replaces the existing exported file in OneDrive with the latest version of your Otter conversation.
If you need to restore an earlier version, use Microsoft Word Version History or OneDrive Version History. Restoring an earlier version affects only the exported file in OneDrive. It doesn’t restore the original Otter conversation.
Which file formats can I export to Microsoft OneDrive?
Otter currently supports exporting conversations to Microsoft OneDrive as:
- Microsoft Word (.docx)
- Text (.txt)
- Md (.md)
Can I rename the Otter.ai Meetings folder?
Yes. You can rename the Otter.ai Meetings folder, and Otter continues exporting future conversations to the renamed folder.
Can I export images to Microsoft OneDrive?
No. Images aren’t currently included in Microsoft OneDrive exports.
To export conversations with images, use the standard Export feature and select DOCX or PDF to download locally.
Can I bulk export conversations to Microsoft OneDrive?
No. Bulk exports aren’t currently supported.
Can I move the Otter.ai Meetings folder?
Yes. You can move the Otter.ai Meetings folder to another location in Microsoft OneDrive. Otter continues exporting conversations to that folder.
What happens if I delete the Otter.ai Meetings folder?
If you move the default Otter export folder to the Recycle Bin or permanently delete the default Otter export folder, Otter automatically creates a new folder the next time you export a conversation.
Why did my Microsoft OneDrive export fail?
Your export may fail if the conversation is still being processed in Microsoft OneDrive. This can happen immediately after you start an export.
Wait a few minutes for the export to finish processing, then refresh the page and try Export or View again.
Why isn’t my conversation ready to export?
Your conversation must finish processing before it can be exported.
If you see Speech is not yet ready for export, wait until processing completes and try again. If the issue continues, contact our Otter Support team.
Do Otter edits automatically update my Microsoft OneDrive export?
No. Changes you make in Otter aren’t automatically synced.
After editing your transcript, summary, or other conversation content, click Update to export the latest version.
Can I export conversations to Microsoft OneDrive from the Otter mobile app?
No. The Microsoft OneDrive integration is currently available only on the web and desktop versions of Otter.
On the mobile app, you can still export a conversation locally and, if your device supports it, choose Microsoft OneDrive using your device’s share menu.
Are there workspace admin controls for Microsoft OneDrive exports?
No. There are no dedicated workspace admin controls for the Microsoft OneDrive integration. Each workspace member manages their own OneDrive connection and export settings.
Workspace admins can, however, disable conversation exports for the workspace. When exports are disabled, members won’t be able to export conversations to Microsoft OneDrive.
As an admin, can I control who connects to the Microsoft OneDrive integration?
Yes. After granting the required Microsoft Entra permissions, you can control which users are allowed to connect the Otter Microsoft OneDrive integration.
In the Microsoft Entra Admin Center, enable Assignment required for the Otter OneDrive enterprise application. When enabled, only users and groups that you’ve explicitly assigned to the application can connect their Microsoft OneDrive accounts.
Navigate to: Microsoft Entra Admin Center → Enterprise applications → Otter OneDrive → Properties → Assignment required.
Can I connect OneDrive for the whole workspace?
No. Each workspace member must connect their own OneDrive at the account level. Workspace admins can’t connect the integration on behalf of all members or for the whole workspace.
