Student & Teacher discount program for the Pro plan – Help Center

The Student & Teacher program offers a discount on our Pro monthly or annual plan for individuals. This program only applies to the Pro individual plan. Learn more about Otter for Education if you want to purchase an Otter license for your entire school.

Note: Workspace features are not available as part of the Student & Teacher program. To take advantage of our Workspace features, purchase a regular plan.

Who qualifies

Individual students, faculty members, and full-time staff are eligible for the discount if they belong to one of the following:

Nonprofit educational institutions
Accredited primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions*
School districts and regional service agencies**

*Affiliated hospitals, medical centers, and patient care facilities are ineligible.
**Federal and state (or equivalent) government offices, such as Departments of Education, are ineligible.

How to purchase

Note: If you want to take advantage of this plan, but are part of a Workspace, please have your admin remove you from the Workspace first or revert your Workspace back to a Basic individual account. You will not be able to proceed with purchasing if you are part of a Workspace.

If you're not using Otter yet, you'll need to sign up for the free Basic plan first using your school's email address (e.g., john.smith@stanford.edu). If you're already using Otter, follow the steps below.

Sign in to your Otter.ai account.
Click your profile in the upper left corner.
Click the Upgrade plan link. Or click Account settings and click the Plan tab.
Click the Student & Teacher Discount link under the plan columns.

Tip: If you are not using your school's email address, you can update your email address in Account Settings > General > Profile to proceed.
Proceed through the checkout process to complete the purchase.

Note: If your school's email address domain does not end with .edu, you won't be able to proceed. Please contact our Otter Support Team for assistance. We may request documents confirming your accredited status, such as a letter from your school's central administration. Our team will review your request and respond as quickly as we can.

Billing information

Accounts on the free Basic plan using their school's email address will be able to upgrade right away and your discount will be applied at checkout. For those already on a paid plan, you'll need to cancel your subscription first.

Note: The form of payment we accept at this time is using a credit card. For accounts already on a paid plan, refunds for prior subscription fees are not offered. We cannot provide vendor or payment forms, invoices or purchase orders, portals, or agreements at this time.
