Otter x TechSoup Nonprofit discount

In today’s digital era, where information exchange and collaboration are paramount, finding the right tools can make all the difference for nonprofit organizations striving to create meaningful impact. Otter provides powerful AI tools, collaborative features, and centralized team management to help nonprofit organizations achieve their goals. We offer a discount on our Otter Business plan to organizations that hold a valid charitable status with either the IRS (section 501(c)(3) in the United States) or a local tax service/charity commission.

We are partnered with TechSoup, a champion for nonprofit organizations. TechSoup provides access to discounts on software, hardware, and services from major brands, including Otter.ai. TechSoup reviews and validates nonprofit and charity status.

Note: Completing registration and approval through TechSoup is currently the only way to receive the Otter nonprofit discount. If you hold a valid charitable status, but are not eligible through TechSoup validation, unfortunately, we are unable to provide a nonprofit discount at this time.

Redeem and apply the nonprofit discount

Once you have obtained your nonprofit discount from TechSoup, please review the options below in regard to your current account status. Applying the discount may vary depending on your account status. Select the one that best fits your situation. 

Tip: The most common reason that users experience 'coupon is invalid', is due to spacing before or after the coupon. Check that there are no spaces before or after the coupon code. 
I am a new user to Otter

If you are a new user or recently signed up for Otter, follow the steps below to redeem your nonprofit discount from TechSoup. 

  1. Sign in or sign up for Otter.
  2. Click on your profile in the upper corner to expand the menu. Click Upgrade plan or navigate Account Settings > Plan.
  3. Click Buy Now in the Business column.
  4. On the checkout page, ensure Annual is selected. Type or paste your coupon code on the right-side panel and click Apply. You should see the total update in the Order Summary.

    Tip: Encountering an error while applying the coupon? Check that there are no spaces before or after the coupon while typing or pasting the coupon. If you need more assistance, contact our Otter Support Team.
     
  5. Continue through the checkout process. 
  6. Once completed, your account will be on the Otter Business plan. 
I have an active Otter Business plan

If you have an active Otter Business plan, please contact the Otter Support Team. Our team will help transition your account to the basic plan, which will allow you to upgrade to the Otter Business plan using the coupon.  

I have an active Otter Pro plan

If you have an Otter Pro plan on a Workspace, you have two options for redeeming the nonprofit discount. 

Note: Due to the new Pro Workspace features, upgrading directly to the Otter Business plan is no longer an available option for most Pro accounts. Upgrading directly to Otter Business from an Otter Pro plan will come in future updates. 

Redeem immediately

To redeem the coupon immediately, please contact the Otter Support Team. Our team will help transition your account to the basic plan, which will allow you to upgrade to the Otter Business plan using the coupon. 

Redeem later

You can redeem your coupon at the end of your subscription period. Please navigate to Account Settings > Plan and cancel your Pro subscription. 

Once your Pro subscription has ended, you can upgrade to the Business plan. 

I have an Otter account, but my plan is expired

If you have an Otter account, but the subscription is expired follow these steps. 

  1. Revert your Workspace back to the Basic free plan. This will ensure the most seamless upgrade without issues. Follow the steps in our Revert Your Workspace article. Once you have completed those steps, return to complete the rest. 
  2. Click on your profile in the upper corner to expand the menu. Click Upgrade plan or navigate Account Settings > Plan.
  3. Click Buy Now in the Business column.
  4. On the checkout page, ensure Annual is selected. Type or paste your coupon code on the right-side panel and click Apply. You should see the total update in the Order Summary.

  5. Continue through the checkout process. 
  6. Once completed, your account will be on the Otter Business plan. 

Renewing with the TechSoup discount

Nonprofits can continue to renew their Business Otter plan at a discounted rate. To obtain a nonprofit discount renewal, please visit this link and select Otter Business 1-Year Subscription Renewal: Otter.ai at TechSoup

If you choose to not renew with the Otter TechSoup nonprofit discount, your plan will automatically renew at the regular Business plan rate.

At this time, Otter does not support applying coupons on active plans. We hope to implement this option in the future for our users. Once you have obtained your renewal discount, please contact our Otter Support Team. Our team will be able to provide more information and help you get set up with the discounted Business plan.
