Otter conversations can be easily turned into captions or subtitles by exporting your conversation as an SRT file. Captioning or subtitles are great tools for improving accessibility and providing a better viewing experience. While SRT is a widely supported format, please check that your program is compatible with SRT files.
Create an SRT file in Otter
Once your recorded or imported conversation has finished processing, you can edit the text within Otter before exporting. If you need to make larger edits, such as deleting or adding additional text, we recommend exporting the conversation first as an SRT file.
- Navigate to the conversation you want to export.
- Click the 3 dots in the upper corner and select Export.
- Make sure Transcript is toggled on and select srt as the 'File format'. Adjust any other options you need, such as speaker names or line breaks. Select Export when ready.
Your SRT file is now ready to be uploaded to your video editing program or video platform as captions or subtitles. You can preview the SRT by opening the file in a text editor.
Upload your Otter SRT file to your video program or platform
