What do I do if I believe the sales tax was charged in error?
As a reminder, Otter.ai will charge sales tax whenever required by local law and regulations.
Incorrect Billing address:
If the customer believes the incorrect rate is being charged, this can be due to an incorrect billing address provided at time of purchase.
If purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, customers should update their address in their respective account. If assistance is required, please reach out to their respective support teams to assist in correcting the address on the account.
If purchased through the Otter.ai website or with help from the Otter.ai sales team, please reach out to ar@otter.ai to make any billing address updates.
Exemption Certificate and Remitted Sales Tax:
If the customer has an exemption certificate or has already remitted sales tax for their Otter.ai purchase, the customer should send the exemption certificate and proof of remitted sales tax to ar@otter.ai. Once the Otter.ai team has reviewed the supporting documentation, the team will make corrections when necessary and reach out regarding next steps.
Note that exemption certificates, if offered by the taxing jurisdiction, are available on that tax jurisdiction’s official website. Otter.ai may not assist in filling out a customer’s tax certificate. If assistance is needed, please reach out to a tax professional.
Where can I find more information regarding sales tax for my state or country?
As tax forms and tax law change periodically, Otter.ai recommends the customer reach out to a tax professional or do their own independent research on the tax jurisdiction’s website. Otter.ai does not provide any tax advice to customers. The company will only charge sales tax when required and at rates specified by local law and regulations.
