You and any Collaborators can edit a conversation to refine and improve its accuracy. Otter's machine learning will learn from edits made to a conversation to improve the accuracy of future conversations.
Note: You will not be able to edit a conversation if you do not have Collaborator permissions. Request permission to edit by contacting the owner. Learn more about sharing conversations.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Do you support live conversation editing? Can I edit the transcript during a meeting or while Otter is recording?
- No. Editing and making corrections during a live conversation is not supported at this time. Conversations can only be edited once they’re finished processing.
- You can add highlights, comments, and images, as well as interact with Otter Chat during a live recording of a conversation.
Can I trim or crop the audio?
- No. Trimming or cropping audio is not supported at this time.
- Please avoid deleting large chunks of text within Otter itself, since Otter will always try to look for text to align to the spoken words inside the recording. As a workaround, please delete large chunks of text after exporting.
- If you have large portions of the transcript you want to remove, you can export the audio and trim the audio in an editor. Once trimmed, you can import the file back into Otter to be transcribed.
Best practices
- After each editing session, make sure to click Done () before navigating to a different page, closing the browser window or tab, or closing the mobile Otter application.
- Light edits to something that wasn't actually said should be okay. Otter's training process should be able to handle this without adversely affecting the quality of your future transcripts.

Note: Your edits and corrections will help improve Otter to be more accurate when transcribing your future conversations. Just to set expectations, the learning will not be immediate.
