Sign in with Apple or Continue with Apple is one of the options we offer for iOS users to sign up with. If you created an Otter account using your Apple ID, you may have selected Hide My Email during the signup process. This creates a randomly generated email (typically ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com) assigned to your Otter account instead of the email attached to your Apple account.
Why can this create problems?
Using your Apple account is a convenient way to create an Otter account and sign in; however, there may be situations where you want to update your Otter account email to a personal one.
Creating a 2nd account by accident
- Users may accidentally sign up for two Otter accounts using both their personal account (otter-demo@otter.ai) and Apple private relay email (abc123@privaterelay.appleid.com).
- This can create confusion when trying to find an account, subscription, or conversation.
- A paid subscription may not be associated with the Otter account you are wanting to use due to the 2nd account.
Contacting Otter Support
- When reaching out to us, we ask that you provide the email associated with your account.
- Our team may need you to reply from the email address associated with the account, depending on the request.
- Regardless if our emails are forwarded to your Apple email account (e.g., otter-demo@otter.ai), we still require a response from the Apple private relay email (e.g., abc123@privaterelay.appleid.com) as that is the email associated with the Otter account.
- If you are unable to reply from the private relay email associated with the account, our team may not be able to fulfill your request.
Emails are not delivered
- Emails from Otter be not be delivered successfully due to the @privaterelay.appleid.com domain.
