As part of putting you in control of your data and privacy, Otter gives you the ability to permanently delete your account. When your account is deleted, the account details, conversations, and data associated with your account are permanently deleted from Otter’s servers.

- Turn off Otter Notetaker auto-join.
- Disconnect your calendar.
- Export your conversations to a text or audio file to save any conversations you currently need or expect to need.
- Review your subscription and cancel. When deleting, all paid subscriptions are forfeited.
Delete your account

Go to Account Settings → General, scroll to the bottom, and click Delete account.

Enter your password and click Verify and continue.
Note: Depending on how you created your account, account verification may be through a different platform (e.g., Google, Microsoft, Apple sign-in). -
Carefully review the pop-up and click Delete account.

Delete your account on mobile
There may be scenarios in which you cannot delete your account through the mobile app. If you run into any errors, we recommend deleting your account on a web browser.

Tap Account → Account Settings.

Scroll down and tap Delete account.

Verify your credentials. Depending on how you originally created your account, verify through the associated method. Tap Verify and continue.

Carefully read through the pop-up. Tap Delete account permanently to proceed with immediately deleting your account.

Why is the "Delete account" option is missing
There are several reasons why the Delete account option may not appear in your account settings. To help prevent accidental data loss, Otter may hide this option based on your account type, subscription, or workspace membership. Review the scenarios below to identify your situation and learn what steps are required before you can delete your account.
You are a member or admin of a workspace The Delete account option is not available for users who belong to a workspace with two or more members. Review this section to learn the requirements for deleting your account
If you are part of a workspace that has 2 or more members, the Delete account option is hidden. For members or admins of a workspace, contact the workspace owner to have your account deleted.

Find the owner of your workspace
The workspace owner's contact info can be found in the workspace indicated by the role Owner or Managed by.
You are the owner of a workspace Workspace owners must remove, deactivate, or delete all other workspace members before they can delete their own account
As the owner of a workspace, you cannot delete your account if your workspace has 2 or more members (including yourself). Check how many users you have in Manage workspace. To delete your account, follow these steps:
- Remove or delete all users from your workspace.
- Once you are the only user remaining in your workspace, follow our Delete your account steps.

I don’t see the "delete account" option. Why is it missing?
If you don’t see the ‘delete account’ option, you may be in a workspace with 2 or more members. Learn more about why the delete account option may be missing.
Can I recover or restore my deleted account?
No. A deleted account is permanent and irreversible and can not be recovered or restored.
What happens to my conversations when my account is deleted?
When your account is deleted, all of your conversations are permanently deleted as well. Deleted conversations are not recoverable.
What happens to the conversations that I've shared with others?
Any conversations that you've shared with others are permanently deleted. They can no longer be accessed by others.
What happens to my subscriptions?
Subscriptions are canceled and forfeited if you choose to delete your account before the end of the billing cycle. Review our Terms of Service for more information.
If I delete the mobile app, will it also delete my Otter account?
No. Deleting the mobile app does not delete your Otter account. You must follow the steps in this article to delete your Otter account.
Deleting the mobile app does not cancel your Otter subscription if you purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Make sure you cancel your subscription through the associated platform.
Is my email info deleted?
Even after account deletion, we will retain certain limited account information, such as email, solely for accounting and administrative purposes.
How do I leave a workspace so I can delete my account?
If you’re a workspace member, contact your workspace admin and ask them to delete your account or to remove your access.
Once you’re no longer part of the workspace, the Delete account option may become available.
Do deactivated users need to be removed or deleted?
Yes. Deactivated users in your workspace must be removed or deleted before you can delete your account if you are the owner of a workspace. Learn more about removing or deleting your workspace members.
How to fix the error "Please contact support to handle deletion of your account"?
If you encounter the "Please contact support to handle deletion of your account" message on mobile while trying to delete your account, review why the delete account option is missing.
