As part of putting you in control of your data and privacy, Otter gives you the ability to permanently delete your account. Read this article carefully to fully understand what happens when your account is deleted.
About deleting your account
When your account is deleted, the account details, conversations, and data associated with your account are permanently deleted from Otter’s servers.
- Even after account deletion, we will retain certain limited account information, such as email, solely for accounting and administrative purposes.
- You can't sign in to the account, and you won’t be able to access any data, content, or services that were associated with the account.
- Conversations and other content are permanently deleted.
- Deleting your account is permanent. After your account is deleted, Otter can't reopen or reactivate the account nor restore your data. If you have an active subscription and aren’t using your account right now, but may consider returning to it in the future, we recommend canceling the subscription instead of deleting the account.
Before deleting your account
We recommend that you take a few steps before you delete your account:
- Disconnect your calendar to prevent OtterPilot from joining any future meetings. We recommend completing this step first. Learn more about removing OtterPilot from your meetings.
- If you are on a paid subscription, cancel your paid subscription first. When your account is deleted, the subscription is canceled at the end of the billing cycle.
- Export your conversations to a text or audio file that you currently need or expect to need.

- Sign in to Otter.ai.

Click on your profile on the left navigation menu and select Account Settings.

Under General, select the last option Delete account.

Enter your password.

Click Verify and continue.

Carefully read the pop-up to understand what will happen to your account when you delete it. To proceed with permanently deleting your account, click Delete account.
- Your account is permanently deleted. No further action is required.

- Open the Otter mobile app.
- Tap the menu button above ‘Settings’in the upper corner.
- On the expanded menu, click your name in the profile section.

In the Account section, select Delete account.

Enter your password into the prompt and tap Verify and continue.

A final confirmation message will appear. Please read carefully to understand what will happen to your account when you delete it. To proceed with the permanent deletion of your account, tap Delete account permanently.
- Your account is permanently deleted. No further action is required.
I don't see the 'delete account' option
I don't see the 'delete account' option
If you do not see the Delete account option in Account Settings, you may be in a Workspace. Check your profile in the upper corner. If you see your organization or Workspace name, then you will need to contact your admin to remove you from the Workspace and revert your account to an individual one. Admins in a one-person Workspace can revert themselves back to an individual account. You must be on an individual account to delete your account.

Navigate to Workspace > View Workspace. Your admin's info will show in the upper corner next to Managed by.
FAQs
Can my deleted account be recovered?
- No.
- Once you have deleted your account, it can not be recovered.
What happens to my conversations when my account is deleted?
- When your account is deleted, all of your conversations are permanently deleted as well.
- Deleted conversations are not recoverable.
What happens to the conversations that I've shared with others?
- Any conversations that you've shared with others are permanently deleted.
- They can no longer be accessed by others.
What happens to my subscriptions?
- Any subscriptions that you have subscribed to, including purchases made through Apple or Google Play, are canceled at the end of the billing cycle when you delete your account.
If I delete the mobile app, does it delete my Otter account as well?
- No.
- Deleting the mobile app does not delete your Otter account. You must follow the steps in this article to delete your Otter account.
- Deleting the mobile app does not cancel your Otter subscription.
Is my email info deleted?
- No.
- Even after account deletion, we will retain certain limited account information, such as email, solely for accounting and administrative purposes.
